Hope pedals: what “Hope pedaler” searchers are looking for
There is no Hope product called the Pedaler. People typing “Hope pedaler” are almost always looking for Hope’s pedals, and for flat-pedal riders that means the F22.
Hope Technology is the English component maker known for machined hubs, brakes and headsets. Its pedals include the F22 flat and the Union clipless range. See the Hope brand page for the full line-up.
What the Hope F22 is
The F22 is Hope’s aluminum flat pedal, introduced in early 2023. It has a 105 mm wide platform, 11 pins per side and a steel axle that Hope redesigned for strength and impact resistance.
Inside are three cartridge bearings plus an IGUS bushing. That is a lot of bearing for a flat pedal and is the main reason to choose it over a mid-range option.
Hope F22 pin layout
The F22 uses two pin heights on each side:
- 4 x 4 mm pins near the axle, where your foot needs to slide a little when you reposition.
- 7 x 6 mm pins around the edge, where grip and control matter most.
The outer pins can be dropped to 5 mm with the washers in the box. The pins are hex-shaped and load from the back, so a bent pin can be backed out from underneath. Our pedal pins guide explains why rear-loading pins are easier to live with.
Hope F22 sizing and fit
The F22 comes in one size. A 105 mm wide platform suits most average adult feet, but riders in big shoes may find the edge pins sit inside their sole rather than at its edges. If that is you, a two-size pedal like the Crankbrothers Stamp 2 (large: 114 x 111 mm) or the Wolf Tooth Waveform large is worth a look.
Setup notes
- Thread: 9/16”, which fits nearly every adult crank. Not for one-piece cranks with 1/2” threads.
- Left pedal: reverse-threaded. Read which pedal is reverse threaded before installing.
- Grease: a thin layer of grease on the threads prevents creaks and seizing.
- Shoes: soft-rubber flat-pedal shoes make the most of the dual-height pins.
How the F22 compares
Against the Spank Spoon 100, the F22 is lighter with more bearings, while the Spoon offers three platform sizes. Against the Wolf Tooth Waveform, both use three bearings and a bushing; the Waveform adds a second size. Our flat pedal guide and platform pedals list more options.
Care and wear
Because the internals and seals are shared with other Hope pedals, the F22 is a pedal you rebuild, not replace. Service the bearings when you feel play or roughness, and swap damaged pins early.

Hope F22: FAQ
Is there a Hope pedal called the Pedaler?
No. Searches for "Hope pedaler" usually mean Hope pedals in general. Hope's current flat pedal is the F22, and its clipless pedals carry the Union name.
How much do Hope F22 pedals weigh?
About 360 g per pair, or roughly 180 g per pedal, according to the launch figures.
How many pins does the Hope F22 have?
11 per side: four 4 mm pins near the axle and seven 6 mm pins around the edge. The outer pins can be reduced to 5 mm with the washers Hope supplies.
Are Hope F22 pedals serviceable?
Yes. They run on three cartridge bearings and an IGUS bushing, and the internals and seals are shared with other Hope pedals, so parts are easy to find.
