Who it's for
Good fit
- Trail and enduro riders with US men's size 7–10 shoes who want a concave, pinned flat
- Riders who want Spank's platform shape without paying for the Spike or Oozy
Look elsewhere if
- Riders with US 11+ feet (choose the Spoon 110)
- Anyone wanting the thinnest possible profile (the Spike Reboot is 12 mm)
- Clipless riders: there is no cleat mechanism
Compatibility
- Shoes
- Flat-soled MTB shoes with soft rubber grip best; trainers work with less bite
- Cleats
- None (not compatible with SPD or other clipless cleats)
- Cranks
- Any crank with 9/16" pedal threads (most adult bikes)
- Not compatible
- One-piece cranks with 1/2" threads
- Spoon sizes
- Spoon 90: US 6 and under; Spoon 100: US 7–10; Spoon 110: US 11 and up
Pros and cons
Pros
- Platform size matched to shoe size instead of one-size-fits-all
- Concave 16–12 mm profile helps the shoe sit into the pedal
- 20 replaceable steel pins per pedal
- Spank sells dedicated Spoon 100/110 axle and bearing/bushing rebuild kits
Cons
- Around 400 g a pair is not light for a 100 mm pedal
- 16 mm at the edges is thicker than Spank's 12 mm Spike Reboot
- Single bearing plus bushing is simpler than three-bearing premium designs
What the Spank Spoon 100 is
The Spoon 100 is a concave aluminum flat pedal from Spank, the middle of three Spoon sizes. Its platform measures 100 x 105 mm and drops from 16 mm at the edges to 12 mm in the centre, so the shoe settles into a shallow dish.
Each pedal carries 20 steel pins, 10 per side, on a forged chromoly axle that runs on a sealed industrial bearing and a bushing. Spank lists it for everything from trail riding to downhill and e-bikes.
Spank pedal range: where the Spoon 100 fits
Spank’s current flat pedals split into the Spoon family and the premium Reboot models. The Spoon 100 is the default size for average adult feet.
| Model | Platform | Shoe size (US men’s) | Who it suits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Spoon 90 | Smallest Spoon | 6 and under | Kids, small feet |
| Spoon 100 | 100 x 105 mm, 16–12 mm | 7–10 | Most adult trail riders |
| Spoon 110 | 110 x 105 mm | 11 and up | Big feet |
| Spoon DC | 100 x 105 mm, 7 mm pins | — | Budget, newer riders, DJ, pump track |
| Spike Reboot | 100 x 100 mm, 12 mm | — | Heaviest hitters, DH and enduro |
| Oozy Reboot | About 12 mm thin | — | Lighter all-rounder for lots of pedalling |
Both Reboot models add a crank-boot-compatible axle; the Spoon does not list one.
Spoon 100 sizing: is it the right Spank pedal for your shoe?
Pick the Spoon size by shoe size, not riding style. Spank designs the 100 for US men’s 7–10 (EU 39–44); too narrow leaves your sole unsupported, too wide adds weight and rock-strike risk.
On the boundary (US 10 or 11)? Riders with wide soles usually move up to the Spoon 110.
Setup and fit notes
- Thread: 9/16” spindle, which fits almost every adult crank. It will not fit one-piece cranks with 1/2” threads.
- Left pedal: the left pedal is reverse-threaded. Our reverse-thread guide explains how to tell left from right.
- Grease: put a thin layer of pedal grease on the threads before installing.
- Pins and shoes: a soft-rubber flat-pedal shoe gives the pins something to bite into. If grip feels too aggressive, remove a few inner pins first and keep the outer ones.
How the Spoon 100 compares
- Wolf Tooth Waveform small: thinner at the edges (14 mm vs 16 mm) with three bearings, on a near-identical 105 x 99 mm platform.
- Crankbrothers Stamp 2 small: similar size and weight, 16 mm body, 10 adjustable pins per side.
- Hope F22: three-bearing internals, but one size only, where the Spoon offers three.

Care and wear
Steel pins round off or snap after enough rock strikes. Spank’s pin kit covers the Spike, Oozy and Spoon; our pedal pins guide explains swapping them.
If the pedal feels notchy or develops play, fit Spank’s Spoon 100/110 bearing/bushing kit or the full axle rebuild kit rather than replacing the pair.

Spank Spoon 100: FAQ
What shoe size is the Spank Spoon 100 for?
Spank recommends the Spoon 100 for US men's sizes 7–10 (EU 39–44). Size 6 and under suits the Spoon 90; size 11 and up suits the Spoon 110.
What is the difference between the Spoon 100 and the Spoon DC?
Both use a 100 x 105 mm alloy platform. The Spoon DC is Spank's budget version with shorter 7 mm steel pins (upgradeable to 10 mm), aimed at newer riders, kids, dirt jump and pump track use.
Spoon or Spike: which Spank pedal should I buy?
The Spike Reboot is Spank's thin 12 mm pedal for riders who hit their pedals hard; the Oozy Reboot is the lighter all-rounder; the Spoon is the mid-range, size-specific option. For most trail riders the Spoon in the right size is the value pick.
Is the Spank Spoon Reboot the same as the Spoon 100?
Some European shops list a Spoon Reboot in S, M and L (90, 100 and 110 mm). The M matches the Spoon 100's width; check the listed specs before treating them as identical.
Can you rebuild Spank Spoon 100 pedals?
Yes. Spank sells a Spoon 100/110 axle rebuild kit and a bearing/bushing kit, plus replacement pin kits shared with the Spike and Oozy.
