Who it's for
Good fit
- Mountain bikers in US shoe sizes 5–10 who want a size-matched alloy flat
- Riders stepping up from a composite Stamp 1 or a stock pedal
- Riders who like to tune grip by adjusting pin height
Look elsewhere if
- US 10–15 feet: the Stamp 2 large has a 114 x 111 mm platform
- Riders chasing the thinnest, lightest flat
- Clipless riders: there is no cleat mechanism
Compatibility
- Shoes
- Flat-soled MTB shoes with soft rubber; trainers work with less grip
- Cleats
- None (not compatible with Crankbrothers or SPD cleats)
- Cranks
- Any crank with 9/16" pedal threads
- Not compatible
- One-piece cranks with 1/2" threads
- Service parts
- Crankbrothers Pedal Refresh Kit for Stamp 2/3 (V2, 2020+)
Pros and cons
Pros
- Two platform sizes tied to shoe size
- Adjustable pins let you tune grip
- Igus plus double cartridge bearing setup is rebuildable

- 5-year manufacturer warranty
Cons
- 16 mm is thicker than some newer flats (Wolf Tooth Waveform: 14–12.5 mm)
- 439 g a pair is heavier than the Waveform small
- Small is too narrow for US 11+ feet
What the Crankbrothers Stamp 2 is
The Stamp 2 is Crankbrothers’ aluminum flat pedal, and it comes in two sizes so the platform matches your foot. This page covers the small in red; the colour changes nothing else.
The small has a 100 x 100 mm footprint and a 16 mm profile. Each side carries 10 adjustable pins, and the A380 aluminum body turns on a forged chromoly spindle with an Igus inner bearing and double cartridge outer bearings.
The current version is the V2, introduced in 2020. Crankbrothers’ Stamp 2/3 refresh kit is labelled for V2 pedals from 2020 on, which is a useful check if you are buying used.
Crankbrothers Stamp 2 sizing: small vs large
Choose the Stamp 2 by shoe size. These are Crankbrothers’ own recommendations:
| Stamp 2 size | Platform | Recommended shoe size | Weight (pair) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Small | 100 x 100 mm | US 5–10 / EU 37–43 | 439 g |
| Large | 114 x 111 mm | US 10–15 / EU 43–49 | 494 g |
The ranges overlap at US 10 / EU 43. If you are on that line, think about shoe width: wide, chunky flat shoes usually suit the large, while the small saves 55 g a pair.
A pedal much bigger than your sole just adds weight and rock-strike risk, which is why the small suits teens and smaller adults well.
Where the Stamp 2 sits in the Stamp range
- Stamp 1 Gen 2: composite body, the budget Stamp, also in small and large.
- Stamp 2: A380 aluminum body, the mid-range alloy option covered here.
- Stamp 3: magnesium body; shares the Stamp 2’s V2 refresh kit.
- Stamp EVO: launched in 2026 with a platform roughly 20% longer than the regular Stamp and replaceable composite bash guards.
For other brands, see our flat pedal guide, the wider platform pedals page, and the Crankbrothers brand page.
Setup and fit notes
- Thread: 9/16”, which fits nearly all adult cranks. It will not fit one-piece cranks with 1/2” threads.
- Left pedal: reverse-threaded; see which pedal is reverse threaded before you start.
- Pins: start with all pins fitted and back off a few inner pins only if you struggle to reposition your feet.
- Shoes: a soft-rubber flat shoe gives the pins something to grip; hard clipless soles slide around.
If you are thinking of trying clips later, the Crankbrothers Double Shot 2 puts a clip mechanism on one side and a flat on the other.
How the Stamp 2 small compares
The Wolf Tooth Waveform small is a near-identical size (105 x 99 mm) but thinner and lighter on paper. The Spank Spoon 100 is similar in size and weight with a concave profile. The Hope F22 is lighter still and comes in one size only.
Care and wear
Stamp pins thread in and will eventually bend or wear down. Replace damaged ones before they strip the threads; our pedal pins guide covers the swap.
When the pedal feels rough or has side-to-side play, fit the Stamp 2/3 refresh kit. Clean and lightly grease the threads each time you refit the pedals.

Crankbrothers Stamp 2 (Small): FAQ
What size Crankbrothers Stamp 2 do I need?
Crankbrothers recommends the small for US 5–10 (EU 37–43) and the large for US 10–15 (EU 43–49). At US 10 / EU 43 either works; wide soles or a long stance favor the large.
What is the difference between the Stamp 1 and Stamp 2?
The Stamp 1 Gen 2 has a composite body; the Stamp 2 uses an A380 aluminum body. Both come in small and large sizes.
Is the Stamp 2 still made?
Yes. Crankbrothers lists the current Stamp 2 (V2) in small and large. The 2026 Stamp EVO sits higher in the range with a longer platform rather than replacing it.
Can I rebuild Stamp 2 pedals?
Yes. Crankbrothers' Pedal Refresh Kit for Stamp 2/3 (V2, 2020+) includes inner and outer cartridge bearings, Igus bearings, seals, locknuts and spindle screws.
