Which to pick
MKS pedals are Japanese-made classic pedals for track, fixed-gear, touring and city bikes, plus the toe clips to go with them. Pick the Sylvan Track for a fixed-gear or track bike with clips and straps, the Lambda or Allways for a big, comfortable platform in everyday shoes, and an Ezy model if you need pedals that come off without tools. For the full track-pedal comparison, see our MKS track pedals guide.

MKS is the brand of Mikashima Industrial, a Japanese pedal maker known for traditional track, touring and city pedals. Its pedals are a common sight on fixed-gear, randonneur and classic road bikes, and MKS also makes the steel and stainless toe clips that pair with them.
The Sylvan Track is the go-to track pedal for clips and straps. The Sylvan Touring is a cage pedal for long days in touring shoes. Both suit cage pedals buyers who want a slim, traditional look.
The Lambda offers a large platform for commuters in soft shoes. The Allways is a simpler flat for city riding.
Ezy pedals detach from a crank-mounted adapter, which makes them popular on folding and travel bikes. See our folding pedals guide for alternatives.
MKS clips come in steel and stainless steel. Pair them with straps from our toe clips and straps guide.
Check your crank thread before buying: adult cranks take 9/16” pedals, and the left pedal is reverse threaded.
MKS sits in the classic, traditional corner of the market. For fixed gear and city riding it competes with Wellgo cage pedals; for mountain bike grip, pinned flats from DMR or Spank are the better choice. If you want clips without toe cages, consider Power Grips straps.
Yes. The Sylvan Track and similar quill pedals are a fixed-gear staple, designed to run with toe clips and straps so you can pull up and resist the pedals.
Match clip size to shoe size and leave a few millimeters between your shoe tip and the clip. See the steel toe clips and our toe clips and straps guide.
An adapter stays threaded into the crank, and the pedal slides onto it and locks in place. Release the locking sleeve and the pedal comes off without tools.
Classic models such as the Sylvan use cup-and-cone bearings that can be adjusted and regreased. See our grease guide.
