Answer BMX is a racing brand. Its catalog is built around the start gate: forks, bars, stems, gloves and pedals for riders from mini classes to experts.
That shows in the pedals: compact, low and light, because racers need to find the pedal instantly out of the gate.
The range is two families, each in two sizes.
Match the platform to the shoe. A junior pedal under a big shoe leaves the foot hanging off the edges; a senior pedal under a small shoe adds weight the rider can’t use.
Start new racers on flats. The MPH pedals teach good technique and let a young rider put a foot down instantly. Move to the Power Booster once the rider is confident and owns cycling shoes. Confirm the cleat type on the listing before you buy cleats, and see our cleats guide for how float and release work.
Retailers list the MPH pedals with a 9/16” axle, the standard for 3-piece cranks. Some entry-level and mini bikes use one-piece cranks that need 1/2” pedals, so check yours. The left pedal is reverse threaded.
Against generic BMX pedals, Answer’s advantage is the junior sizing. Most pedals are adult-sized, which is too big for a small racer.
Against mountain bike flats such as the DMR V8 or Crankbrothers Stamp 2 Small, the MPH pedals are smaller and more race-specific. For clip-in riders, the Power Booster competes with dual-sided pedals in our double-sided clipless guide, with the platform racers want for a messy gate start.
Small and young riders usually suit the MPH Jr, which keeps the platform in proportion to a small shoe. Move to the MPH Senior once the rider's shoe overhangs the junior platform.
Only if the cranks take 9/16" pedals. Many small bikes with one-piece cranks need 1/2" pedals, so check before you buy. See our reverse-thread guide for fitting.
They work, but they are sized and shaped for BMX racing. Most trail riders get a bigger platform from a dedicated flat pedal.
