Which to pick
Magped pedals hold your foot with a magnet instead of a spring-loaded clip: a steel plate bolts to the 2-bolt cleat holes of an SPD-compatible shoe, and you release by twisting or lifting your foot. For trail, enduro and e-MTB riding, pick the Magped Enduro 2 (150N). The Sport2 is the all-purpose pick for commuting and e-bikes, and the Ultra2 is the light option for XC and gravel.

Aluminum all-purpose pedal on a 104 x 92 mm platform with 6 pins per side, sold with a 100N, 150N or 200N magnet.
Best for: XC, gravel and riders counting grams
Magnesium body and titanium spindle, offered with 150N or 200N magnets.
A Magped pedal has a strong magnet in the body and pins around the edge, like a flat pedal. You bolt a steel plate to your shoe using the same 2-bolt holes as an SPD cleat.
When you step on, the magnet pulls the plate down and holds your foot in place. To get off, twist your heel or lift your foot. There is no spring mechanism to trap you, which is why riders nervous about clipless pedals look at magnets.
Magped sells its pedals by platform and by magnet strength, measured in newtons (N).
Choose the platform first, then the magnet.
| Model | 100N | 150N | 200N |

| Enduro 2 | Not offered | Up to 80 kg | Over 75 kg |
| Sport2 | Up to 65 kg | 65–90 kg | Over 75 kg, or enduro use |
Compared with Shimano SPD pedals, Magped gives up some security for a softer, more forgiving release. Compared with flats, it keeps your foot from bouncing off on rough ground. If you want a true mechanical lock on a big platform, a clipless platform pedal such as the Crankbrothers Mallet DH is the alternative. See every option in our magnetic pedals guide.
An SPD-compatible shoe with 2-bolt cleat holes. The steel plate bolts on where an SPD cleat would go, so flat-soled MTB shoes with a cleat recess work best.
It is the magnet's holding force in newtons. A higher number holds your foot more firmly and takes more effort to pull off.
No. A clipless pedal locks the cleat mechanically, while a magnet can be pulled off with enough force. That is the point: an easier release.
Yes, as a plain flat pedal, but there is no magnetic hold without the steel plate on the shoe.
